Wool Insulation - A Natural Active
Fibre
Product Description: Higgins New Wool Batts (Fire
Retarded) are manufactured from natural wool fibre and treated with
Disodium
Octaborate providing fire retarding and insect proofing, in
accordance with BS 5803.4. Wool has the ability to shed water, yet
readily absorbs and desorbs water vapour. Wool can therefore act as
a buffer or stabilizer to reduce peak humidity levels and
condensation this has been confirmed in research conducted by the
International Wool Secretariat.

Health Hazard: Health Effects: Unlike fibreglass
insulation, there are no known physical or health hazards
associated with our products. These products have been tested for
toxicity reactions to ingestion, inhalation, and exposure to eyes
and skin, with no reactions or observed effects. No health effects
reported.
First Aid: Seek Medical Advice: Not Applicable
Safe Handling Information: Transport & Handling: No
special requirements
Fire/Explosions Hazards: Use any fire fighting appliance. Will not
explode. Low flame response. During combustion organic materials
give off CO & CO2.
Corrosion Resistance: Higgins New Wool Batts (Fire
Retarded) pass the Australian Standards for corrosive effects on
mild steel.
Moisture Resistance: Wools moisture absorbing properties
give it major thermal resistance advantages. Wool has the ability
to shed water, yet readily absorbs and disperses water vapour. Wool
has the ability to stabilize and reduce peak humidity and
condensation levels. (International Wool Secretariat)
Maximum Service Temperature: Maximum Service Temperature
is 90 Degrees Celsius. Higgins New Wool Batts were developed to
suit temperatures normally occurring in domestic or commercial
buildings.
